Sound that demands attention
Arrestiv Sound Co. is an independent sound design project run by me, Matt Rippon, based in the UK. I spend most of my time recording, editing, mixing, and building sound libraries, sample packs, and presets for people who want something a bit different from the usual.
Everything here is released freely. No storefront, no upsell, no expectation — just a growing collection of sounds, presets, and ideas shared as they’re made.
I design presets and patches for a range of popular software synths and VST plugins. Every sound starts from scratch, with a focus on texture, emotion, and creative flexibility. When I’m not in the studio, I’m usually out with headphones on and a field recorder in hand, capturing raw material and exploring new sonic spaces.
The samples, presets, and effects are built to be used. Whether you’re working in music production, game audio, film, sound art, or something more experimental, the aim is to give you solid, characterful material without over-processing or overthinking it. Nothing here is designed to impress on paper — it’s designed to work.
Alongside Arrestiv, I also run Pod Audio, where I design simple, cost-effective accessories for field recordists and audio enthusiasts. These are practical tools built to solve everyday recording problems without unnecessary complication. These products are offered at a modest cost, typically covering materials, time, and basic expenses.
This isn’t a business in the traditional sense. It’s a long-term creative project — something I enjoy doing and want to keep doing, without pressure.
No hype. No exaggerated claims. Just useful sounds and tools, made and shared.
